J. Alex Witcombe has been a professional artist since his teenage years, originally focusing on photorealisticportrait and wildlife paintings and charcoals. Alex obtained his BFA from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design from a satellite program through North Island College in the Comox Valley. Since attending school, Alex has evolved his style to exhibit more expressive strokes and marks overlaying a realistic framework. He focuses on large scale painting, drawing and digital art. Favourite subjects include automobiles, robots, dinosaurs, wildlife and historic photographs. Recently Alex has incorporated product development into his professional studio practice, designing and patenting new products and systems for license to national and international companies and corporations. Alex lives in the Comox Valley with his dog, Kirby.
